The author

Philip Maxwell

Philip Maxwell is a British novelist from the North West of England. His books grow out of a lifelong fascination with history, archaeology and mythology, and with the moments when the ancient world breaks through into our own.

He has lived in North Wales and in Spain, and travelled widely: behind the Iron Curtain before the Berlin Wall came down, through the Middle East and the Far East, to Australia, and across some twenty American states. Those journeys run through his fiction, from the standing stones of Anglesey to the fog over the Golden Gate.

Alongside the past, he is drawn to the politics and pressures of the present day, and his stories set the two against each other: Druid lore and oil drilling, astral projection and counter-terrorism, a drowned village and the super-rich of the Costa del Sol.

Philip is married, with three children.
